Type of review

Well, first let me say it looks solid and works great for what my group is using it for. The problem is that we use it for other purposes! We bought it as a kick mic stand. The problem is that you can't install a Shure Beta 52A microphone on it. (I'm assuming you can, but you're not). I don't have it with me right now, but basically there's a washer preventing me from screwing this (very popular) kick mic onto it. Again, I'm sure there's probably an easy workaround. But the microphone doesn'tโ€ฆ

Ideal height for seated acoustic guitarists

I mainly record classical guitar mics seated and I find the Gator Frameworks GFW-MIC-0821 ideal for this purpose: it takes up little space and allows the mic boom to be positioned below and with it hands and notes. Classical guitarists sit while playing, so most barbell racks are too tall and create visual clutter. This tiny gator is heavy enough to be stable and not tip over, yet easy to transport. In addition, it has a small footprint, which is ideal for tight spaces. Tripod legs are greatโ€ฆ

Perfect for my needs

These reviews seem to cover several different models so I have to say I got the model with a counterweight on the arm and a solid base. I wanted something on the side that wouldn't get in the way, but found the dual spring arm mounts to be too large. It's located behind my mixer on the side of my desk, pointing pretty much at my face, where I usually sit. It's just far enough away to be out of the camera's field of view, while my Shure SM27 mic isn't quite at arm's length. So the sound of myโ€ฆ

An absolutely wonderful desktop mic stand for computer recording

This mic stand was exactly what I was looking for but didn't know it until I found it. I mean this is advertised as a floor stand to place the mic next to a drum or something. I was looking for a stand that would sit on my desk to record video lectures. The most common recommendation for setting up this type of record is to use a barbell. I've used one of these but have never been happy with it because when fully undressed it reaches long enough to reach my mouth but when not in use is veryโ€ฆ

Design and performance issues

With all the great reviews I thought this would be the last guitar cabinet mic stand I would ever have to buy but I have to echo some of the other reviewers that the design has it some extremely annoying issues: the main shaft is actually oddly threaded and extremely difficult to tighten, leaving your mic free to spin around the axis at all times. This is made worse by the fact that working with a handle adjustment to increase altitude tends to break any tension you may have achieved (as wellโ€ฆ
