700c Road Bike Tire - Continental Gator Hardshell (Damaged Packaging) Review

Gator Hardshell is a great durable tire. I especially like that they added some wear indicator dimples to make it easier to tell when it's time to replace them.

I've had Continental Gatorskin and Hardshell for a while - both great tires, durable, puncture proof for road use. Premium price than others but worth the extra cost. I'm a fair-weather biker, so I can't comment on foul-weather performance. Only ride in the rain when caught in a downpour. The tire is also expected to not perform well in mud/snow conditions, although with its slick surface it copes surprisingly well on paved surfaces in dry conditions.

I used to wear flats all the time, now I rarely wear them. Went from 1 every week, sometimes 2, to none in a few months. Where I drive, the roads seem to be paved with glass and other debris, but this has successfully saved me from flat tires so far. You'll still have to dodge nails and screws as well as giant shards of glass, if you see them nothing will stop them, but so far I've been lucky. I bought them back in February 2021 but I've waited until I've had enough experience with them to write a meaningful review. It's August 2021 and I've clocked up 786 miles in this pair. The reason I bought them was because I had a few flat tires a year despite using Kevlar belted tires which I thought were solid including Continental Gatorskiins and Vittoria Rubino Pros.
