Snap does not line up

I bought this set mainly for combination (off-set) pick which not all sets include. I also like the idea of having a pouch for the set, which this set comes with. Having said that, the snap on the flap does not line up, so when you close the flap you cannot snap it closed! The snaps miss each other by about a quarter inch so no amount of "pulling" the flap will get the two snap halves to line up. I returned mine.

Pros
  • Customer was very happy with purchase
Cons
  • The set doesn't include any instructions or guidelines for use

Perfect for when you “need something "

We’ve all been there: unexpected glue squeeze out down in a deep corner, small screws dropped inside electronics, hot solder to scrape at, seams to pry and prod, a quick scratch awl, those annoying modem/router reset buttons you’ve been using a paper clip for. And I’ll throw in some particular cases of my own: violin sound posts and guitar picks to stab in place as you work them out of instrument bodies. My go-to "something” for years has been a set of small chrome prod/pokers – the ones with…

Pros
  • Pretty solid for what I need for super cheap save me some money instead going in the tool truck
Cons
  • The handles can be slippery when used with oily or greasy hands

Really Nice handles on the 'New Version' (black/orange)

These are really nice hooks/picks for the price. The new handle is very comfortable and really great for use with picks; having a little more cushion than typical handles, these seem to work very well for the type of movements required when using these tools. Very nice that they do come with tube protectors for the tips, but it would be a 5 star set if they can with a nice pouch. I'll have to find a canvas pouch or something to keep them in. I still like some of my smaller picks for more…

Pros
  • Gearwrench's Hook and Pick Set has a variety of shapes to leverage or pull parts, springs, and cotter pins
Cons
  • The set may not be well-suited for use by left-handed users

One of my most useful tools

This is a great hook and pick set. They come in handy for so many things. I work industrial maintenance so I’m always needing a hook or pick. The handles are really nice. They feel great in the hand and are comfortable. The tips don’t bend easily like others I own. They are really sturdy and durable. The handles are also easy to clean off. I would highly recommend this Gearwrench hook and pick set. This is a great addition to any toolbox.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The set may not be ergonomic or comfortable to use for some users

These don’t bend & flex like other brands I’ve had.

Another great tool by GEARWRENCH. I use to think of Gearwrench as a cheaper tool company which may have been true at that time. I can now tell you for sure that they have totally changed. I’ve got some ratchets from Gearwrench, sockets, bolt extractor and this pick set. They blow away craftsman tools which is what I use to use. This pick set is strong. It doesn’t flex and bend like other brands I’ve had. I used these the other day while working on my NP231 transfer case for my Jeep XJ wrangler.I

Pros
  • Full polish alloy steel blade prevents rust and corrosion
Cons
  • The hooks and picks may not be straight or properly aligned out of the box

Best tool I never knew I needed!

Once you have these you’ll find so many uses for them that will help prevent you from abusing your other tools by using them as stand ins for these guys. Just get them. I regret not getting these years ago.

Pros
  • A great quality tool for the price
Cons
  • The set may not include all the hooks and picks users need

A nice set for a variety of needs

This set of picks has a nice variety of sizes and pick shapes from a straight awl to a rounded pick. The handles fit the hand really well and are quite comfortable. They seem pretty solid and the ones I tried took quite a beating without damaging the tip.

Pros
  • These are very rigid. They have retained their form for over a year now.
Cons
  • The set may be difficult to find in stores or online

Defective pouch good for me

As already mentioned in the reviews, the pouch is defective - the snap button is misaligned and doesn’t allow to close the pouch. Seems to be a general manufacturing problem.

Pros
  • ‎7 Pc. Set
Cons
  • The set may not be as useful or versatile as users had hoped
