Good for 20 ft lbs

Strong wrench and adjustment points are very good. My main concern is that the weight is less than 20ft, it's just inconsistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Very expensive

Verified torque wrench against calibrated digital torque.

Checking the torque wrench for accuracy with a calibrated digital torque tester, found to be accurate. The downside of this torque wrench is the teeth, I've found that the teeth on a torque wrench slip when tightening at the top.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Some shortcomings

Not the best of the best in hand tools

There are many other gear wrench products out there but this torque wrench is not their best work. Can't tell if I'm on the right track. Most torque wrenches ratchet when going the wrong way, so you can only turn them the way they're supposed to. It's not like this. I can't say whether I'm on the right path because of this.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • So far so good

Good quality wrench

I was a bit skeptical about this but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new replacement for my weary 25 year old handyman. Especially since I no longer trust the Craftsman brand. Comes with a calibration sheet and appears to be accurate. Collar movement is comfortable. Allows for easy customization. I only used it to install an intake manifold. Sensitivity at the low end of the torque range seems good.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Blank

Dial very hard to read

Worked very well and appears to be a quality product but the markings on the wrench were very difficult to read. The numbers are small and embossed on the handle, and the chrome finish makes them difficult to see unless you have the right light. Button adjustment is easy, so there are no problems. If the numbers or markings were dark, or if the background around them was matte or flat like some ports, that would be a big improvement, but even then the adjustment markings are far from ideal.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not the best

Don't worry - power and hand tools

Used about 4 times before it failed (tighten the lugs to 100 ft lbs. I handled it carefully and always kept it unloaded if it did. Then went I got to use it and found it completely frozen - woah I couldn't adjust the torque setting at all no turn would turn the knob Eventually I had to tap it on the floor a couple of times to break the dial After that this one seemed fine too work but then the ratchet broke while using it almost causing me a serious injury (on what you are working on) My local…

Great torque wrench. but it's not perfect.

Overall this torque wrench feels pretty solid. I've used it to do some timing belt/water pump work. Some of the water pumps were on the low end of the torque range (10 ft lbs or less), but this thing handles the low end quite well. It seems very stable regardless of torque range. I like that the torque setting is fixed during use. My only complaint is that this thing NEEDS more teeth. It is difficult to use in a limited space because the number of gear teeth is small and it is difficult to mesh

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and chunky

I have a TEKTON 1/2 in the drive, it works fine. However, I didn't like the bottom nut you tighten when you get to the adjustment. That's why I chose GearWrench as they have a crank that you can adjust to lock the setting. I was surprised at the quality and features given the price. I don't know if the accuracy is correct; However, I have no reason to doubt it. Sturdy and well built. A little heavier than I expected but didn't need it to be light. Hard materials are clearly used. Will be…

Pros
  • Best in its niche

Don't worry about torque wrenches

I did about 4 uses with it before it failed (tighten bolts to 100 ft lbs. I was careful with it and always kept it unloaded if it worked then use it and found it completely frozen - wow I couldn't adjust the torque setting at all no turns would turn the knob finally I had to tap it on the ground a couple of times to break the dial it seemed to work fine after that, but then the ratchet broke during use almost causing me serious injury (due to what you are working on) the bin at my local shop…
