Description of 🔧 GEARWRENCH 1/2-Inch Drive 120XP Micrometer Torque Wrench, 30-250 ft/lbs - Model 85181

120XP head provides a 3° ratcheting arc to turn fasteners in narrow spaces. Torque accuracy of +/- 3% CW in the upper 80% of wrench capability delivers high performance. Enclosed ratchet head design resists dirt infiltration for continuous and efficient execution. Low profile tube, teardrop head, and flush mounted on/off switch allow better access in tight confines. Scale markings are highly visible and easy to read. Knurled aluminum handle lets you grip comfortably, while clearly marked midpoint promotes additional accuracy. 100% steel construction offers lasting strength and durability. Meets or exceeds ASME B107.300 and exceeds ANSI specifications on load and cycle. Injection Molded case with removable lid and EVA foam insert for secure storage and convenience. 1 year limited warranty; calibration accuracy warrantied for 90 days.

no complaints about wrenches

so far so good, I particularly like that the markings are in a contrasting color and are very legible, I don't know why it took the company so long to make something so ordinary sense . The fit and finish is great and the case is very good.

Pros
  • hands-free operation
Cons

Check your wrench

Bought this wrench to tighten the nuts on the transmission pan after an oil change. It took me 3 weeks to receive it, not that much but as soon as I opened the box there were fingerprints and dents all over the base. I assume someone used it and sent it back. It annoys me to pay full price for a used key. Beware.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Quick start guide

Really like this wrench

I bought a 1999 Softail Springer to service the front rocker arms. You must apply 100 ftlbs of torque to the locknut while holding the socket head set screw in the center. So I had one hand to apply full torque. I figured a 2 foot torque wrench would work for this and it got the job done with no problem. It is well made and comes in a nice carry case. I am satisfied with all my transmission keys. Overall well done stuff.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • Not happy with everything

OTHER USED BROKEN

Like several other users, I received a used broken tool with scratches all over the handle. No audible or tactile clicks below 50 ft lbs. It's way worse than the Tekton I replaced, at least when it decides to click you can feel and hear it, up to 10 ft lbs, and this one gets 150 instead of 80 like this one. It feels like the Chinese made garbage. Although the setting is firm, it feels flimsy. It's the same with business.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

What's not to like?

Exceptional product. Precise compared to the well-known torque wrench and easily repeatable from screw to screw. The 120 tooth gearing makes it really easy to get into those hard to reach places. The adjustment mechanism works very well and the scale is very easy to read when setting the torque value, also the setting does NOT slip like many I've had. The ONLY downside I can find about a wrench is that it's pretty expensive. . . . . . . . but in this case you get what you pay for!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Socket required

Nice torque wrench!

Nice torque wrench, I used this when reinstalling the rear and had to tighten the hanger bolts. Love the knurling on the handle and the fact that you pull it down to adjust and it stays in the adjusted position and doesn't get lost like cheaper wrenches. The 3 degree arc is handy for tight spaces, and I love the case and the comfy foam mold to protect it. The setting scale is also easy to read and adjustable. I have several other gear wrench tools and sets and other 120xp ratchet sets and they…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Calibration was disabled, had to be returned

This is a nice looking micrometric torque wrench. Nice colors and stitching. A 120xp drive with a 3° elbow that doesn't require a torque wrench can be surprisingly useful. The case that comes with it is good and there is a printout of the factory calibration tests. After using it several times a day, he "felt" the lack of calibration. I tested the torque wrench with two high precision digital torque adapters and the torque values obtained were lower than specification over the entire range…
