📦 Geekworm NASPi 2.5 inch SATA HDD/SSD NAS Storage Kit for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (Raspberry Pi 4 Not Included) Review

Arrived quickly and well assembled (had to use YouTube to see assembly details). Firstly, I wish the SATA HD had an alternative to using two screws to mount it on the daughterboard covered by the Raspberry Pi itself. This allows you to replace a SATA drive without completely disassembling it. I learned this the hard way after putting it together the first time and decided to upgrade the SSD I used in the first build - now I've sure enough found an alternative to protect the drive .

About 95% of the way in this case. The assembly instructions on the Geekworm webpage are a bit unclear, but I managed to get it in the end. The case itself is better than most and the cooling works well. Just adjust the assembly instructions and it's a 5 star rating.

This setting replaces the previous case where the fan died. I ended up having to remove one of the heatsinks to properly install the new fan and case. Since the Pi4 was already in use with OMV installed and was an absolute Unix newbie, I refrained from updates and updates of the system for fear of damaging the OMV installation. I've decided to do this since OMV6 was released.

I am satisfied with this product because it is one of the very few cases in which you can permanently install an SSD in the Pi 4B. The system runs much faster with an SSD than with a microSD card (transfer speeds are at least an order of magnitude faster, if not more, even compared to the fastest microSD). (change, update) I bought this to create an Umbrel (Bitcoin) node and it has a nice design. Since I'm using it on an Ethernet network, wireless network issues don't bother me. The bags were well marked so be careful not to throw them on the bench like I did! The installation video is pretty good, although it's better to watch on a computer than on a phone (to see which small screws to use, etc.). Update: I do not recommend this case. The Deskpi Pro just came out and seems to be pretty much the same case but with big design changes like an efficient fan with a real heatsink. Love this little case, it looks and feels very industrial in a small form factor. I'm using a wired connection, so I have no trouble connecting to Wi-Fi. Assembly was easy and fun. Also there is no problem with the software installation script. There are very limited options for adjustable RPI fans.
