I've had a Gemini Jr for a while and my cutting insert snapped and eventually broke. I followed the directions for the sandwich, twisting and turning my cutting board with each pass through the machine, but it still cracked and snapped. Through extensive experimentation, I found that my old Sizzix platters perform better in my Gemini Jr. than platters from Gemini's manufacturer, Crafter's Companion. I've tried everything the manufacturer suggests and nothing seems to work - they warp after a pass or two, although I flip them every time. I bought this plate to put my squid in. It worked fine, but the die had already made a cut in the panel. I understand that this happens over time. This cymbal is thinner than Cuttlebug cymbals. I hope this lasts for a while but as my first cut has already worn off on this record I have my doubts. I'm so mad at the plate I just started using with my Gemini Jr. This machine AWESOME cuts the toughest dies the first time. Rotating the platters can help prevent them from deforming unusably BUT this new platter has only gone through this machine a few dozen times and as you can see the top just snapped through. I went online to check and make sure I ordered a genuine Gemini record and indeed, as the packaging underneath my record shows, it's genuine. I can't afford to buy wafers every month…
