The canvas is stretched well - the wood appears to be well made and the canvas is smooth and well finished. You can create a frame if you like, or just add a sawtooth hanger or hook and you're good to go. I love that they come in different sizes and they come in pairs with each size. Apparently they were plastered before being taken out of the box (judging by the look and feel of the fabric). I tried a few different paintings but they were epic failures. After consulting with my mother (a professional artist), I found that a lot of the mixed media art I like (gelly, decoupage, etc.) really isn't compatible with stretched canvases.
