The water still tastes bad

I have moved into a new house and this filtration system has been installed in my kitchen. The water was great and didn't taste bad. When the filter needed to be replaced, I bought this filter cartridge and replaced my old one. After changing the filter, the water tastes bad and tastes just like the unfiltered water in my bathroom. The old filter I had looked exactly like the one pictured here, but the one I got was a different design. I will not order from here again.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Don't follow the instructions! A $35 filter is now costing me a fortune!

Just tried to replace my filter, followed the instructions. Just unscrew the old cartridge and install a new one. The instructions say there is no need to turn off the water supply, so I didn't do it. Boy I wish I had; When the faucet was opened, the water pressure increased so much in such a short time that I heard a loud whistling and rumbling. Water leaked under the base, found a source, broke the damn plastic of my garbage chute. Thanks GE.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Not the best

The item listed was terrible, buy it from Home Depot instead of

I installed this for home use (under the kitchen sink - bought the kit at the hardware store) and then ordered this product when I needed a new filter. It only took 6 weeks for the water flow to drop to a trickle and I had to replace it. Instead, I obtained the following filter from a household store, which worked fine for 6 months with no noticeable change in use. I don't know if I got a bad part or if the part sold at Revain is different than the one sold at home storage (both have the same…

Pros
  • . Absolutely amazing!
Cons

Terrible quality control and customer service from GE

Filters sometimes only last 2 weeks before flow stops while filters sometimes last 6 months. GE customer service was a joke. I was placed in 6 different departments before finally finding the right technician and his answer was simply that the life of the filter depends on the water quality. I asked how they could explain how my water quality was deteriorating throughout the day resulting in the filter only lasting 2 weeks and they had no response or willingness to send the faulty filters to me

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Do Not Buy - Replacement Trouble Ahead

This filter cannot be reinstalled. That's what happened. He took off the old filter and laboriously unscrewed it. The new filter was not used at any pressure. I tried installing the old filter but to no avail - same problem as the new one. The root of the problem is that the hex "nozzle" on the filter is not aligned with the hex socket in the dispenser cap. Called GE and forwarded 6 times. They claim to be unaware of this issue (see other negative Revain reviews). All they were willing to do…

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Available in Black Only

Good design. But got a defective product.

I have replaced 2 GE GXULQRs in my kitchen sink in the last two years. Last time I had to use a rubber band wrench to remove the old filter. Before installation, I smeared a very small amount of Danco waterproof grease onto the two rubber O-rings on the new filter. No problem. I think the filter is well thought out. I turned off the water supply during installation just in case. Update: I changed the rating to 1 star. We've found that filtered water tastes the same as unfiltered tap water…

Pros
  • Quick-change design: no water shut-off required.
Cons
  • Short Manual

Has the quality of this product deteriorated?

This is my fifth time replacing this filter. The previous installations were very simple and absolutely problem-free. After this setup (just like last time) I have had a completely very low flow for 2 weeks now and the water tastes like it is not filtered at all. I don't want to use the second one I bought with this one as they are too expensive to just throw away if it's a manufacturing issue. I don't know the return policy for some used items of this type, but I hope to be able to…

Pros
  • Contains a filter
Cons
  • Damaged

Two cartridge problems

Have been using this filter model for 5 years with no problems - up until the last two filter cartridges (purchased in January 2017 and February 2017) that I bought from this seller. The water flow slowed to a very slow level after only five weeks. Previously, this filter lasted for 6 months (with the same frequency of use). I will not be buying this again as it appears something has changed with the cartridge resulting in it only lasting six weeks. Updated 04/24/17. I bought the same cartridge

Pros
  • Elegant design and finish
Cons
  • New competitors appeared
