Replacement spring fits just like the original but not as strong as the original. It prevents the door from opening, but with this spring, the door is noticeably heavier than before.

These springs are quite expensive for the price. However, if one of your dishwasher's door springs breaks or pops (sounds like a heavy can hitting the floor), you're going to need it. Replace both at the same time. They're harder to install than I thought and I couldn't disconnect the hot water lines, garbage disposal, and electrical wiring.
