Accuracy?: Carpenter's Square

One of these rules was used with a protractor many years ago but lost. I bought this device mainly to check the tips of the drill bits when sharpening. That's what the fixed-angle part of the sensor is for. It should be 59 degrees. I tested it on a high end protractor and found it to be almost 2 degrees. Then I checked the protractor with an accurate 45 degree angle and the drawing protractor, it also deviates by 1-2 degrees. I seem to remember that my old one was still there.

Pros
  • ARROW AND ARROW CHART - Corresponds to common bit sizes with the correct sizes for National Shaped Carving Drills
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

The general doesn't care

The quality is bad, the accuracy is worse. But at least they didn't respond to my request for help via email, phone or text. All I had to do was call to tell them their quality had dropped to an all time low. There was a time when a machinist could put a general pocket ruler in his pocket and it was the same ruler he had in his pocket when he retired! This can work well to level a table with a short leg. if you put it under the short leg!

  • Amazing

We are only limited by OUR ability to learn how to use IT. Each week I choose a different tool function and then try to learn how to use it correctly in different situations in the shop and at home. What I was able to solve and "dissolve" deserves attention! This little tool is a powder keg of application and determination! This is the perfect gift for…

Now made in India; don't let the picture fool you.

Now made in India. The model in the photo (as of 09/12/17) shows the USA with a proud embossing in the middle. These versions were accurate and the protractor wobbled nice and smoothly. The Indian version has a jumbled scale, a large radius where to set the drill's angle, a bent and torn protractor, and a trampled on rivet that is both off-center and sticking. so far from the back that it becomes unusable in a horizontal position. Luckily Revain has a great returns policy and I hope General…
