Good part: Measures angles

Good part: Measures angles. Cons: Very difficult to operate as the knurled nut cannot be tightened without flickering. And when he finally does, he loses his footing before you can read the corner. I buy the best product.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Compatibility

Used to measure chisel and planer edges

I can now get accurate edge angles when sharpening tools instead of guessing. I also used this to find the angle from my unmarked T-Bevel to transfer the cutting angles to the table saw. It matches my angles and plastic angle gauges, so I think it's accurate. This is the same sensor that Paul Sellers used in one of his YouTube videos. So if it's good enough for him, then it's of the utmost importance to me.

Pros
  • Decent performance

Great for my son's math homework

Need something for my son at home for his math homework. We had one from the same company with a mustache and it was complete junk so we wanted something more useful, not plastic. It looked like it would work and it was metal. So we tried. I like that unlike the others we've used which are the standard arc shaped plastic angles, the angle is easy to draw with a protractor placement and a pencil line. The thumbscrew is tightened for the people who need it to keep it stable during use. I was…

Works a lot more than Machinist mark-up!

I first came across the General Metal protractor years ago as an engineer in a locksmith shop and then bought it. Over time I discovered that not only did they actually come in two sizes (then) but they ALSO worked WELL for sketching (which we did on paper back then) as they did for metalworking with DyKem and a carbide scribe ! I gave my larger protractor to my wife for her arts and crafts. And I needed to replace it, so I bought this one. Since you are tough and help with accurate markups…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

OK if that's what you want

nothing to like except maybe a matte finish which would make the markings more legible. You can probably get readings in larger fractions of degrees; of course simple to a certain extent. If you need more accuracy get a vernier goniometer or this site has a magnifying glass listed in that category. Most of these protractors have serious unavoidable limitations unless they are beveled, as it is difficult to measure an object unless it is thick enough to fit between the blades (measuring edges)…

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • so far so good

I ordered one of these to keep in the shop and the first came with an inaccurate scale of about 1 degree reading 89 degrees when tested on a proven precision machine angle becomes. BEFORE USING IT FOR ANY USE, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR INDICATOR ON MOTOR SQUARE. Of course, if you're using this to transfer angles for replication, or create an angle inversion where you're not actually measuring the angle, just using it as a transfer tool, this won't become a problem, but when you use it to actually…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
