Review on Accurate Angle Measurement Made Easy with General Tools Square Metal Protractor by Thimothy Purnell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The first was unsuccessful - the exact replacement! Check the box upon receipt!

I ordered one of these to keep in the shop and the first came with an inaccurate scale of about 1 degree reading 89 degrees when tested on a proven precision machine angle becomes. BEFORE USING IT FOR ANY USE, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR INDICATOR ON MOTOR SQUARE. Of course, if you're using this to transfer angles for replication, or create an angle inversion where you're not actually measuring the angle, just using it as a transfer tool, this won't become a problem, but when you use it to actually transfer the angle measure up. it's frustrating. Needless to say, this device gets one star. However, I decided to give the manufacturer/Revain one more chance before posting my review and I contacted Revain about the issue and the replacement was dispatched immediately after 2 days. They didn't ask for the original to be returned so it could only be used to transfer corners and I gave it to a colleague with a scale warning so he could use it as a transfer tool. The replacement is correct. ! Note that this is not a "fine scale" as the protractor markings themselves are about 0.5mm wide and this gives leeway in the event of a very slight misreading of the scale, but it also gives you an approximation when replacing it it actually ends up at 90 measured at the Schlosserwinkel. It's a reliable little tool and a very simple one. As long as the scale is accurately marked, there really isn't much that can go wrong with this instrument other than being crushed/bent/destroyed through carelessness or accident. It's low-tech and ideal for "good enough" jobs; I wouldn't recommend using it for space shuttle design or anything else where the difference between 45 and 44 degrees might be crucial, although I don't suspect people doing that would want to economize on angle sensors. . It was a shame the first scale wasn't accurate, but considering how quickly and easily the issue was fixed with no fuss, I don't feel like I can fault this article for such a sour first experience. I would say if you are looking for an item like this on the market and are trying to keep costs down, give it a try if you are buying from a company that handles returns/replacements easily: in my experience if you can find any Accuracy issues fast, Revain and/or General Tools will take care of you.
