Use the original Subaru gas cap

I spent money on a different gas cap and the check engine light kept coming on. Buy a genuine Subaru gas cap if you want to save time!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

OEM works! in reflectors

OEM, worked great, what more can I say? If your Subie is going to be running in five or 10 years, depending on the weather, you might want to take it now before you find a cracked o-ring.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

OEM gas cap is perfect

This is the original gas cap for Subaru, used on the 14th car, perfect fit, don't forget to order the plastic locking pin that goes to the gas cap . I forgot to order one and mine is broken

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons

This product is correct

This is an exact replacement so I am very happy with the product. The key is to make sure you get the EXACT part number you need. I checked a few websites to make sure I ordered the correct item. They differ depending on the car model and even year of manufacture, so be careful when choosing.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

Works as it should: Reflectors

My Subaru Forester is about ten years old. The check engine light came on and my mechanic thought the gasscrew hadn't tightened the gas cap properly. It turned out to be a blown gas cap gasket. At the suggestion of my mechanic I purchased an original Subaru 42031SC000 reflector assembly (gas tank) after which the check engine light would not come on. This saved me a lot of money to investigate a possible air leak.

Pros
  • Something inside
Cons
  • Minor problems

Fits perfectly. OEM parts worth the price difference

When I bought my 2013 Forester I didn't realize the cable was broken/cut. After a few months I decided it was time to replace it before I lost the cap. There are a number of gas caps out there, many claiming to fit just like the original. I've read several reviews of 'fake' ones that people have bought only to find they don't fit properly. I don't know about everyone else, but this is one of the parts I want to get 100% right. Now I like to save money like everyone else, but when it comes toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good thing
