Would be great if it didn’t suck

Fun for 3 minutes; then Sparky keeps repeating the same combinations over and over. The game never ends because it’s glitchy and never gets to the combinations you need to match the shapes and colors.

Pros
  • 10.5 x 10.5 x 3 inches
Cons
  • Potential to promote over-reliance on visual aids and take away from natural creativity

Doesn't say all shapes & colors

It's basically impossible to win because it doesn't say some color/shape combos, and it rarely (if ever) say "square" in any color. Very frustrating! Also, the yellow light is actually orange.

Pros
  • Sparky lights up a color and says a shape; kids find that and match it to their cards!
Cons
  • The game is targeted towards a relatively narrow age group, which may not make it a good investment if you're looking for a long-term toy

I would not recommend

This game is not worth the money.the bee repeats the same color continuously.very frustrating,I would not recommend it

Pros
  • Includes 75 colored shapes, 9 2-Sided Cards, Sparky, Rules
Cons
  • Not interactive enough, which could be boring for some children

Can't complete a full game

Repeats the same shapes and colors repeatedly. And some shape and color combinations are never generated meaning frustrated child and parent.

Pros
  • This was a great product - delivered quickly, and just as described. THANKS!!
Cons
  • Great concept but the bug gets stuck repeating the same shapes and colors over and over.

Great concept but our Sparky might be a dud

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for our 2.5 year old. Our family enjoys playing games together and I thought this would be a good intro-level family game to get our youngest member involved. The concept is great and the game pieces are nice quality. The problem we have experienced is our Sparky gets stuck on the same shape and color over and over ad nauseam. All players lose interest after the second or third round of "try a purple triangle" (adults included) and the game gets put…

Pros
  • Cards are 2-sided for different ways to play!
Cons
  • The game requires the use of batteries, which may be a concern for parents who are conscious of the environment

Bug gets stuck repeating combos.

Would have been great. My 3 year old loved it, for two minutes. The bug gets stuck saying the same color/shape combos. Makes it nearly impossible for anyone to win. She just said that she wishes she got a different game for her birthday. Sad.

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • May have a steep learning curve for children who aren't used to critical thinking activities

The bug is defective and repeats the same thing every time.

Received this as a Christmas present for my kids. The bug repeats the same color and shape over and over. We have not been able to complete a single game. Also the packaging is terrible because of the hole in the lid and now the pieces pour out when the box tips sideways. This game is a good idea but poorly made.

Pros
  • Board Games
Cons
  • The game only allows for one solution to each problem, limiting the opportunity for kids to exercise different problem-solving approaches

Lots of Fun and Educational – Definitely a Keeper!

We are huge game lovers in my family! My little one is almost two, so I sometimes find it difficult to find suitable games for him in the stores. They are either too babyish for his learning level or way too advanced for his age. My son loves his shapes and colors. He knows them very well, so I knew that Sparky was right up his alley, and had to let him give this game a go!The setup of the game is really simple – it's actually very reminiscent of a cross between bingo and tic-tac-toe. You have…

Pros
  • My students love this game!
Cons
  • Limited scope of application may not challenge kids for long

Cute game overall on my review.

Very cute game. I work with preschool children. A couple of minor issues with the colors: purple is faint and yellow looks orange. At least there is no orange, so it's not that a problem. I like the cards have a bingo board on one side and a picture on the other. I do not use the bear card because it is the only one that has a square oriented like a diamond and it confuses the kids. I love the shapes and the game itself. The box is constructed so that the game doesn't actually go back into it…

Pros
  • 24 months - 8 years
Cons
  • Smart Start Sparky's technology could be intimidating for some kids and may prevent them from trying it out
