Lots of Fun and Educational – Definitely a Keeper!

We are huge game lovers in my family! My little one is almost two, so I sometimes find it difficult to find suitable games for him in the stores. They are either too babyish for his learning level or way too advanced for his age. My son loves his shapes and colors. He knows them very well, so I knew that Sparky was right up his alley, and had to let him give this game a go!The setup of the game is really simple – it's actually very reminiscent of a cross between bingo and tic-tac-toe. You have several two-sided games boards. One side looks like a bingo card and the other side is an outline of a picture. The reason for this is that the game actually allows for three separate ways to play, so you can switch it up to make things more interesting. Both sides have shapes throughout. You can choose between playing the three in a row game, the four corner game, or the complete your picture game. The colored shape chips are set in a pile for everyone to use. Each player gets a game board and takes a turn to press the button on Sparky's back. He will then speak (he actually talks!) a shape while his tail lights up with a random color. Each player will then see if they have the matching shape in that color on their card. If so, they can grab the appropriate chip from the pile and place it on their board piece. The first one to complete their card with all the shapes needed, wins the game. The game, itself, comes with: 75 different colored shape Chips, 9 two-sided boards (one side is a picture side and the other a bingo/tic-tac-toe side, Sparky the Bug (takes three AAA batteries), and directions on how to play.I really love games that are both fun and educational. Sparky is definitely one of these type of games! My little one really enjoys this game, and as an adult I have a lot of fun playing it with him. He is still a bit young to fully grasp the entire concept of the winning/losing part of the game, and that is perfectly fine with me. Right now we are using it as an educational lesson on memory and matching until he is ready for a little fun competition. That is also the beauty of games like this – they grow with your children. My son has a lot of fun naming off the shapes and colors as we put them on the board. Sparky calls out the shape and lights up a color. My son then races to find it and match it to one of the boards. This is a really great game to have for children of toddler and preschooler age. I highly recommend it, not only for those who may already know their shapes and colors, but also for those who are still trying to learn them. It offers an excellent way to teach young children, and at the same time they'll have a blast while learning! I received a complimentary product to try, however all views and opinions here are unbiased and purely my own.
