Giro Disciple Helmet Matte Black Review

I bought my helmet from Bike Helmets Direct. There was some damage in transit but I was able to get a replacement quickly and the customer service was top notch. The helmet replacement was perfect. I look forward to trying the Go Pro mount

Fairly light, good fit on the Giro, strong strong straps. I sent it back because it was too hot to just sit in my living room. Of course, a downhill helmet has to move to allow airflow, but if I did the same thing with my motorcycle helmet, it wouldn't get hot.

I'm a big fan of Giro MTB products. This helmet is true to size. very comfortable interior and appears to be well built. Gives a real sense of security. Can be a little heavy and less ventilated compared to more expensive Fox or TLD versions. If you enduro race or ride long distances during the hottest months, you may need extra ventilation.

I have a 23" head and the big one was too big and the middle one was too small so I sent the helmet back - that's why I gave it 3 stars. I ended up getting a large Leatt DBX 3 DH which fitted well. As for the helmet, the color and quality of the helmet was excellent. The integrated camera mount is well done.

I was surprised to find a bike helmet that fits my large head. Other brands (Bell, Fox Racing) I've tried weren't big enough, but both the Giro Chronicle MIPS and this Giro Disciple MIPS worked for me. The Chronicle has an open face, is lighter and doesn't sit as tight on the top of the head, but I wanted a chin guard. The Disciple is heavier and narrower all over, but I can easily wear it for hours.

I have a medium sized half shell giro and if anything it is a bit large. That's how I got this full face on average, but it's a bit small, especially in the cheek area. However, it is quite comfortable and feels solid. I didn't fall in it, but I definitely feel like my head is well wrapped. It's harder to hear from inside this helmet than I expected, but then again I can't compare it to anything else. I paid $108 for this helmet (new) and I would say it was well worth it. I ordered a medium sized helmet based on the size chart and it fits perfectly. If you've never worn a full-face helmet it might feel a bit tight, but if the helmet isn't snug, it's too big to properly protect you. But it shouldn't be uncomfortable. The D-ring strap is well padded and once you put it on you won't even notice it. It's not super light, but it's light enough for the protection it offers.
