    Fits large wide head

This was one of three helmets bought by my husband who has a 25" head that is extra wide at the temples/forehead. This XL Radix fits snug but doesn't feel uncomfortable. We also tried the Giro Register and the Smith Signal in XL, both of which had adequate girth but not the right shape. I hope this will be useful for those looking for a big and wide helmet. It was quite a journey to find it!

    • Decent performance

    Comfortable full coverage helmet

I was looking for a new road and mountain bike helmet after my old Giro helmet was hit by a car. This helmet is the perfect solution for me. I love that it offers full head coverage without feeling too bulky. I tried Chronicle but it was huge. It made me look like a bobblehead. It also doesn't just sit on top like some traditional road helmets.

    • Excellent overall performance

    • Slightly torn

Very hot despite the many vents

I found this helmet gets very hot despite the many vents. My old Bell helmet had 3 vents less, but it was cooler than this one. The red color is very light - it seems really light so you can definitely see me. This is a plus. My head size was about the top end of a small helmet, but it fit well. And comfortable. It's just really hot. That makes me very unhappy. I'm not looking forward to next summer on this one.

    Pros
    • Sturdy build
    Cons
    • Could have opted for a newer model

    Great bang for the buck!

I am an avid mountain biker with many helmets in my 20+ years of motorcycling. I've always liked the Giro-Fit system as their helmets fit my head perfectly. Beautiful, affordable and comfortable, not to mention MIPS! The visor is the perfect length for the trail/enduro rider. I don't know if I would recommend it as a cross country racing helmet as the visor can reduce visibility due to the much more aerodynamic position on the bike, but the visor can be moved. Note that if you purchase the…

    Good helmet but size limitations

I measured the correct size according to the instructions and after repeated use of the rope and tape measure I got 59 or maybe a quarter inch less. My old Giro, maybe ten years old and dropped on hard ground a few times, is medium but narrow and hard or impossible for a light cap so I went for a big one. Despite many adjustments and a week of riding and adjusting, I couldn't get the front end to sit high enough above my brows and was close to my brows even with the ratchet as tight as possible

    Pros
    • Consistent test results
    Cons
    • Everything is fine

i have been riding with a fox helmet for the last 7 years and in the winter i always ride without it because it's not big enough to to fit over a hat and nobody makes a helmet big enough and I don't want to sweat in a ski helmet even though it looks cool. After looking everywhere for Smith and never being able to find the XL version, I finally found this one and ordered the largest size. It fits great at about 23.5 inches with nothing but a bandana and the Mips are a huge improvement in comfort

    • good thing
