INCREDIBLE tripod and ultra light

This thing is built like a tank, ultra light and perfect for travel. I couldn't ask for a better tripod. I exchanged my Sachtler and everything is great! Of course it costs more, but you get more.

Pros
  • great for me
Cons
  • boring packaging

Solid construction - tripod legs

At first I was skeptical about this tripod because of the high price. I then compared it to some cheaper options like Geekfoto's tripod and travel tripods. This tripod does not wobble or wobble. It's just a stone. The other two I tried took a while to switch between tapping buttons or setting. And I'm sure you won't get a stable frame in strong winds. This tripod is definitely worth the money and will accompany you for a lifetime.

Comes apart nicely for tripod legs

One of the hinges literally fell apart after only six months of occasional use. The piece of metal at the top of one leg splintered and fell off. It's a terrible thing to happen in the field when you're trying to focus on a rare bird. It looks like you have to register the product within 3 months or else the 10 year warranty will be void. I am extremely disappointed. My old $200 head tripod still works 10 years later. Of course, this quality Gitzo tripod should have lasted much longer. Gitzo…

Not Reliable Enough: Tripods and Monopods

I love this tripod so much. It is lightweight and folds to a size suitable for small aircraft transportation. It is excellent at dampening vibrations and is easy to fold and unfold. Unfortunately it broke after a short use. Repaired under warranty, returned after a little over a month. If you're buying one, I recommend holding onto your leg while you twist to stretch and compress your legs so the torque doesn't break the connector. So some tripod parts are 5*, some parts are 1*.

Gitzo GT1545TUS: great travel tripod; it's light and strong

This is an impressive travel tripod. It easily fits in my international suitcase. I added a Really Right Stuff BH-30 ball head; Total weight of tripod and ball head: 3.4 lbs! Great combination. That's half the size of my Gitzo GT2541EX in combination with an RRS BH-40. The GT1545TUS was very stable with my Nikon d850 and Nikon 70-200 f/4 lens. Some people complain that the legs can fall off. I added rubber washers for the hoses and had no problems. Other people have complained about having to…

I wish I had never bought - very poor quality and unreliable

Comments updated July 2021 I have had this tripod for 3 years and it is useless. I only use it for iPhone videos now. The legs always get lost and don't support the ball head with a Canon 5D Mark 4 and wide angle lens. Fixed multiple times but still very unstable and untrustworthy. I wish I had never bought this product. Comments October 2019 I have been using this tripod for about two months. The screws and washers attached to the cross constantly loosen and fall off during use. The legs just…

Breaks down on tripods and monopods

I bought this tripod in December 2019. During a February 2020 trip to Africa, two leg sections were split in two after being slipped around the trunk of a car. I sent it in for repair under warranty and had the legs repaired a few months later (possibly delayed due to COVID). Less than a month after this repair, an easy play developed where the carbon fiber center column meets the black collar where the metal screw (i.e. the interface to the head) is located. The game got to the point where the

Best traveler tripod on the market

I was originally attracted to another Gitzo Traveler tripod, the GT1555T, for plane travel and long hikes. It's less than 14 inches when folded and so light but strong enough to carry my gear. But the fact that its 5-piece legs, even at full height, doesn't reach my eye level (I'm 5'8". ) without fully extending the center column bothered me. The center column should only be used when certain circumstances warrant it, and not in general as you lose the necessary rigidity Although one of my main
