Very strong winds, the only drawback for me was a somewhat limited range. However, with a heavy load you'll probably only pull very briefly, so that's not a problem. Under a really heavy load approaching the 400 lb rating, I could easily see myself using a cheater tube or grip extension.

I have a small boat trailer that I almost have to position with a jackknife in my backyard at times because there isn't much room to maneuver and winches with traditional handles hit my back door when it happens.
