Great for Micro 4/3

I have a Panasonic GX-8 mirrorless camera. The first thing I did was try it with all my heavier lenses. No problem, he holds the weight. I think there are some micro 4/3 telephoto lenses that are difficult to stabilize like the Olympus 100-300mm Pro or the Panasonic 100-400mm. But with these lenses you don't need a table tripod anyway, but a real tripod that you can stand up with and take pictures with. For all zooms and mid-range primes in mirrorless cameras, this is pretty reliable.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

pictures are deceptive. The item is much smaller.

This item is much smaller than shown in the photos. It's advertised to work with mirrorless cameras, but my a6300, with its tiny kit lens, has a hard time balancing without tipping over. I'm not sure I would trust him not to knock over and drop my camera. Connections also come loose a lot easier than I think. I would not feel safe being out of range of my camera. Edit: Less than 3 months old and the rivets on the bottom of both legs are broken. Couldn't be happier with it.

Pros
  • Beautifully packaged
Cons
  • Discontinued model

free joint. Best of the Set Tripods

Got this as a gift for a friend of mine who also has the same hobbies of photography and videography as I do, the only problem is that one of the joints is significantly weaker than the others . I watched as I helped him unwrap the gift, but after he took it out of the box (undamaged) one of the legs began to wobble on its own without resistance. It's like it's been soaked in WD-40 or grease. He knew I spent about $40 for it so he said he loved it but unfortunately I'm planning to buy another…

ridiculous 3k doesn't even fit 1.8k!

This is ridiculous. I understand these $3,000 cost $30 and wear out over time, but right out of the box this thing can't even hold less than 2kg! Each joint seems to have random tension, making it difficult to position and prevent wobble at the same time. / plate (65 g) = 1.8 kg. Tries to balance to try to distribute the weight, adjust the legs around, etc. the thing is constantly hanging from each leg (albeit at a different joint each time). I'm pretty sure they could make this junk ten times…

Joby BallHead 3K - The perfect little lightweight ball head

The perfect little ball head for use with a monopod for photography or quick video recording. This small ball head is well made, snaps securely into place and has a slot to allow the head/camera to be in a vertical position. It features a retractable locking base with built-in spirit level, which is secure enough to make camera assembly and disassembly easy. The base is marked at 10 degree intervals with a larger line marking each 90 degree mark; no grade numbering. It is very light and small…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Hard to say

UPDATE: not working for a very long time

Update 12/10/19: At first I found this article incredible, but now I've encountered a problem. After using the mount for my iPhone, I decided I needed a ball head so I could rotate my phone in different directions. Of course I ordered the Joby ball head from Amazon. It screwed directly onto the Gorillapod with no problems, but now, after about a month of use, the ballhead won't screw into the Gorillapod 3K stand. Whatever I tried, it didn't work. Of course the warranty has expired so I have a…

Feels really solid

I use this tripod head with an Elgato ring light because the ball head that comes with it is really awful. I actually already had a Gorillapod, so I could just take the head off and order another one for later. This ball head is fantastic. The real ball and cradle are made of this really good metal. The plate that connects to the camera and the part it sits on are plastic, but that's not a big deal because it feels solid too. The tripod head holds my camera in place with ease and doesn't move…
