Mikasa Kaylee 8-Piece Stainless Steel Hostess Serving Utensil Set - Gourmet Basics Review

I have to say I was a bit worried given the price. When they arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The set is actually very nice, good quality, with a wide range of crockery. So far, they've survived salads with sour dressings, hot and cold meals, sitting in the sink, and sitting in different types of food. They're still fairly new so I'm still waiting but definitely worth the price so far away.

I don't know why but I expected them to be smaller. However, the size should be perfect for my holiday dinner this year. They are about what I expected for the price. Don't expect them to be solid silver for $30, but they look great and work great without spending a lot of money. The grips are a lot thicker and stronger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. There were a few minor imperfections but I doubt anyone would inspect my serving utensils to tell.

Finally I broke down and bought Christmas porcelain tiles. I have a handmade blue beaded serving set that goes perfectly with my everyday blue pottery, but would obviously look terrible with my red and green Christmas dinnerware. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a serving set that I'll be using about 6 weeks a year, but I also didn't want something cheap and "tinny" to look or feel. A little more than I expected but after weighing and touching them I think they are just what I need. I will keep them in my utensil drawer for occasional use. I'm single and prefer 7-9 inch utensils for cooking and serving so they fit snugly. I can also bring them to family dinners and they are just what we need. I will buy another set when I have money. The best value for money! This set is exactly what I wanted. If you need large family-style utensils for healing mashed potato spoons, toppings, etc., buy them. They are really big and very strong. Highly polished and durable stainless steel is brushed to perfection for a comfortable grip. They have a "soft" feel, not like cheaply carved and roughly polished flatware.
