Greenful Products Splatter Screen Frying Review

LOVE this home screen. It works great and seems resistant to oil buildup. I wash it in the sink with warm soapy water and it cleans very easily. I was concerned that spatter might still seep in through the holes, but that's not the case. Now my glass oven is much easier to keep clean. I like that the handle is foldable. This makes storage a lot easier, and I can reposition the handle when I have a pan that it sits in a bit like a wok pan so the handle doesn't get in the way.

Just received mine today and it will NOT fit my 12" pan without sitting in the pan. The folding handle locks into place by squeezing the sides together and moving them to the locked position. I will be reserving these for smaller pans, but the seller should really revise the listing to fit pans up to 11 inches. I love the folding handle because it always seems to get stuck in drawers if it doesn't collapse. Others have mentioned odor binding, so we'll take a look at that. Maybe the detergent…

This splash guard works better than any other metal screens I've had before. However, I have a bit of a suspicion that the handle folding mechanism will hold, hence the four stars. In addition, grease can be a little sticky on the silicone surface, so cleaning requires special attention. Product description is misleading as it says 11" and 13". You get ONE 13" screen. I think the price for just ONE is high, but more importantly I have a lot of pans but only one 13". A typical frying pan or simmer pan is 10-11" in diameter. The 13" pan is just too big to use on anything other than a 13" pan. See here's the thing, I'd love it if the splash guard itself didn't get damaged that easily. I've used this twice, once cooking burgers in a cast iron skillet over medium heat and I got those white bubbles on them that many have mentioned. I used it again in a non-stick pan over low heat and there was no further damage. 5 month update: I am reducing my rating from 4 to 3 stars. Over time, despite careful washing (both hand and full dishwasher cycles), the silicone begins to take on the greasy smell. It's kinda rude. While it may appear to be a "greener" solution compared to cheaper metal screens, odor production keeps this item in "disposable" territory.
