Portable solar panel application

I replaced the 10/2 AWG hard marine cable with this product hoping it would be very flexible. It is very flexible and conforms to the 10 AWG standard. Automotive grade (SAE?) insulation, so doesn't have as much capacitance as marine grade wire. And the voltage drop per foot is slightly higher. But for my 100W/6A portable solar panel, 25 feet of this cable has an acceptable voltage drop of 0.4VDC (3.4%). I recommend this 10/2 AWG cable for 100W portable solar panels. Higher power requires 8 AWG.

Pros
  • Have a good vibe
Cons
  • Out of fashion

"Right now " the best place for wires bang for my buck!

Couldn't be happier with the product or the seller. I have shopped here before and will have no problem coming back in the future. I compared prices before buying and here is the place to get it. As for the psycho complaining that another wire was "fatter". Well, the insulation doesn't conduct electricity, so maybe you should be more concerned about the conductors inside. Perhaps the other insulation was of lower quality and needed to be thicker to ensure adequate dielectric strength. Anyway…

TERRIBLE! for power and ground wires

Seller advertised this as "Real 10 Gauge" as if it were better. It is actually MUCH thinner than a 10 gauge (see attached photo). I feel extremely left out and am making a formal complaint to Revain. ** For those who said this cable is flexible. It measures about 16 gauge, which is flexible because it's so thin in diameter. UPDATE: I'm making MC4 connectors. that traditionally use 10 gauge wire. This wire is too thin, it doesn't even fit my MC4 connectors. So how could it be 10 gauge wire? The…

That's a whopping 50 feet! - In-car audio and video installation

Some sellers advertise 50ft zip cable but really mean 25ft black and 25ft red cable that is merged together. But this wire is HONEST 50 foot 10 gauge, fairly flexible zipper wire. I use it 20ft to make an extension cord between the raw output of my portable solar panels (<26 volts) and the solar regulator (which stabilizes the voltage to 14.4 volts to charge my lithium batteries). While it's true that I could use 12 or 14 gauge wire to handle a small amount of current (less than 10 amps)…

High quality automotive electronic accessories

Pretty high quality in terms of value for money. I used this to make a longer, more powerful power cord for my portable tire inflator, using Anderson Powerpole connectors instead of a standard cigarette lighter plug. Dude, you can definitely hear the difference when the tire inflator is running; but actually it has nothing to do with this product. The cable is quite flexible and I can use it wherever I need it in my application without having to deal with it. It also withstood my soldering tip…

Real 10 AWG copper wire.

Appears to be pure copper wire or sold as OFC or oxygen free copper. It is not copper plated aluminum or CCA inferior to OFC. With that in mind, I have to condemn the reviewers who gave less than 5 stars because of the packaging, appearance, or their inability to easily peel off the insulation. The spool I wrapped the wire around was shattered when I received the package. I don't care, the wire is great and I'll be throwing the empty spool in the trash soon. Yes, heavy insulation is harder to…

Used to make custom solar panel extensions with MC4 connectors.

UPDATE 10/2021: This cable reliably transmits 10A+ current from two 100W solar panels to a Newpowa 15A MPPT charge controller and a 12V power supply consisting of two SLA/ AGM lead-acid batteries with a Capacity of 35Ah. Approximately 6 months of outdoor exposure in a hot, humid, rainy Pittsburgh summer had no effect on this cable other than a slight fade in color due to UV exposure. I will definitely be buying a GS cable again (I recently bought the same item in 12g). A 100w solar panel I…
