Appears to be pure copper wire or sold as OFC or oxygen free copper. It is not copper plated aluminum or CCA inferior to OFC. With that in mind, I have to condemn the reviewers who gave less than 5 stars because of the packaging, appearance, or their inability to easily peel off the insulation. The spool I wrapped the wire around was shattered when I received the package. I don't care, the wire is great and I'll be throwing the empty spool in the trash soon. Yes, heavy insulation is harder to strip than any other wire, but I think that would be a positive thing. You might want to consider buying a better wire stripper as mine works great with this insulation. If you want a more expensive, softer, silicone-insulated wire that's easier to strip, consider buying this instead. The wire I received was also true 10 AWG, no less than what was advertised as another reviewer suggested.
