Good coffee everywhere

I have used this campsite several times and I love it. It cleans well and is enough for probably 4 people. I can boil water fast enough to make enough coffee. Really light weight. One day I will switch to a titanium version for durability but this one is great.

How have I never had a French Press before?!?

I bought these for my upcoming bike rides and tested them at home which has resulted in me using them at home very often because French press coffee is the best! use. Be sure to use a coarse grind, otherwise there will be a lot of fine grinding in the cup. Aside from this non-issue, I have no other cons.

Ideal for camping!

At home we usually drink toddy (cold coffee), but for long trips we can't take enough concentrate with us. We really liked the GSI press that our son took on a recent hike, so we ordered one. I just wish I had paid more attention to the description as ours is gray (i.e. graphite) and his is more blue (which I would prefer). Of course, this does not affect the taste of the coffee. And it's great!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Little things

Never enter the interior of the country without him!

Works great with standard DD grinds. I had no problems with the grind going through. Follow the instructions, fill up with hot water and get ready for a great cup of joe in the country. Things to look out for: 1) I usually try to pack gear in gear but not on this pup as it may scratch or deform. It's a little unwieldy for something I have to leave blank, but it's worth the sacrifice for the flavor compromise WORTH IT. I will never go back to bags.

Great little press - coffee, tea and espresso

I would give 4.5 stars. This is life saving! The press survived 2 rides (and counting) and at least 24 brew cycles. We end up doing 3-4 cycles a day because a lot of people crave coffee. This press was so well received on my recent trip that my girlfriend is planning to buy it at home. The biggest minus and it's not that much. First, if you push the plunger too quickly and don't flush between brews, you'll end up with a ton of ground coffee in your batch. This press is capable of making about 6

  • Hands free operation

Good for home use, not travel

PROS: Large size - I like coffee that lasts all morning. Simple and stylish - few details, easy to use and clean. The flexible handle loop is great for putting in the side pocket of my SixPack lunch box. Can be used as a mug - no need to buy a separate mug as you can just drink from the spout. CONS: The lid is NOT airtight. Tilt this french press far enough and it will leak even with the lid closed! This is a terrible design flaw as this thing won't fit in your cup holder. So when you drive or…

Looking forward to good coffee on our upcoming trip

I bought this for an upcoming hike after reading a lot of great reviews. When I received it I was excited to try it. On our last hike, our coffee pot didn't work well and was difficult to use. I liked how simple it seemed and not too expensive. I heated some water, dosed the thickness and poured water. I left it for 4 minutes as the instructions say. I gently squeezed the plunger and poured it into my cup. I had a fine grind in my coffee, but I didn't use the coarse grind as the instructions…
