Not what I expected from K&N

Well this isn't my first air filter change on my Goldwing but it is my first K&N replacement. To make this quick and easy, the folded pad just didn't fit perfectly. It took a lot of work to get it working properly in the grove, and you all know the Honda didn't give you much room to work.

Appears to be of good quality

Good quality and good name. The only problem was that it didn't fit perfectly in the track the filter was on. I had to pinch the outer edge slightly in hopes it would stay in place while I assembled the lid. Since it takes hours to get to the air filter on the Gold Wing, I can't easily verify that it's properly sealed.

K&N Air Cleaners - Air Cleaners & Accessories

I mean it's a K&N so... For me changing the air filter is a real hassle because I ride a Goldwing. For this reason, this filter is mandatory. It adds almost 60,000 miles between charges, and the charge kit (up to 10+ uses) costs less than a standard air filter. Add to that higher airflow, more power and time savings, and it all makes this an easy purchase.

Good filter matches filters

I have always enjoyed using K&N filters. I only gave 4 stars because this one I received was over greased in the packaging and ended up dirtying all my plugs so I had to take it out, clean it and lubricate it properly. Along with the filter, there were no instructions on how to cure or let it dry for 20 minutes, as the charging kit explains. First filter I ordered with this issue and I still recommend K&N to anyone and everyone!

Filter element: typically K&N, free flow and long service life. Fastening System: Poor fit and frustrating installation. Expensive.

Reviews of this filter at Revain seem to be hot and cold, and while I'm usually generous with my stars and kind reviews, this time I'll be more critical than usual because K&N didn't do very well on the task designing or manufacturing that particular product. The filter element itself is fine. Typical K&N design with pleated cotton/wire mesh that is sealed all around with a supple rubber compound. The surface appears to be larger than that of the drain.
