I wish I had known a long time ago. They are so easy to use and provide a permanent connection between wires. No more worrying about a wire nut letting a wire slip out. Simply place two wires in the case so they overlap, heat the shrink wrap, and then the solder will melt and harden it all together, safe for eternity. love these little things.

This appears to be a quality connector but it is expensive and not known if it will last in poor conditions so it is difficult to recommend. I will update this review as needed. *UPDATE 4/23/2019 A 1000w heat gun doesn't help. Heat shrink tubing melts but soldering fails. I will try the 1600 watt gun when they are back in stock.

When using a heat gun instead of a lighter, the plastic screen melted as expected and started to burn even before the solder melted! AND NEVER MELT! Then I tried the lighter and it still didn't melt. What a waste of my time! And I bought a commercial pack of 150 which I'm stuck on now. Maybe I got a bad batch but they do NOT work like youtube videos! The solder ring does not melt! Shit!

How I do it: Strip both wires about 3/8 inch. Slide the wire connector onto one of the wires. Bend back the stripped portion of the wires. (Do not twist.) Carefully slide the wire connector over the bent connection so the solder is over both copper wires. Press it down with a heat gun until you see the solder melt. The solder turns from dull gray to silver as it melts. Make sure to heat shrink both ends. The connection must be reliable and have continuity.

These cable connectors are just what you need. No more crimping wires. I simply use a lighter held under the plug to melt it down. I've also tried the heat gun and it works even faster. So far I've used them on my truck, trailer, car, sound systems, lawn mower and various shop tools with no problem. Each of them worked perfectly, water can't get in and it's easy. This is one of those products that should be in every electrician, mechanic or homeowner's toolbox.

These things are great! I had over a dozen 12V incandescent bulbs that I wanted to replace with LED lights. Docking outdoor lights is usually troublesome: difficult or cumbersome to make good, reliable connections that are waterproof, space-saving and durable. In my tests, the solder hardly melted. I ended up using some resin flux on the wires and the solder still barely flows. Also, the slightest movement while cooling will result in a weak physical connection. This is not a substitute for actual soldering and covering with waterproof heat shrink tubing and hardly counts as soldering in my opinion.
