This iron heats up in about 30-45 seconds which is fine if you solder regularly and NEED A HOT IRON NOW. Unfortunately, the front of the handle acts as a heat sink, so leaving the iron on for a few minutes can be quite inconvenient. Accessories are a little sparse - a desoldering wick is a welcome accessory, but the small stand doesn't inspire confidence. The thin profile/handle (compared to a corrugated iron or cheap imitation) of an iron means that it slips right through a regular spool stand
Excellent iron. For the same price as some other low quality entry-level irons, you get an extremely high quality iron. The tip is ideal for working with PCB through holes as well as large interconnects. It heats up from room temperature to a sufficient temperature to melt lead solder in under a minute, unlike some crappy irons that take forever to heat up. A few things to watch out for. It takes a while to heat up, but at this price I can live with that. This soldering iron works well and does the job. As soon as I have room for a dedicated workstation and can upgrade it, I will keep it handy as a backup. I particularly appreciated the free solder wick that was included. The one I bought came with a spare spring, but finding springs to buy is more difficult and expensive than necessary.
