Works very well on landlines

We bought this for my mother who already uses a similar phone. She said it works great and is easy to connect. When we are on the phone with her, there is a short pause for the transcription to appear and for Mom to read. But it allowed us to call again.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Some little things

Unreliable Wi-Fi

Bought as a present for an elderly gentleman. After a while, the Wi-Fi disconnected and didn't automatically reconnect without network data reset. When it disconnects, it shuts down all landlines on the landline, so it doesn't know it's failed until it realizes it's not receiving calls.

THIS MAKES COMMUNICATION POSSIBLE

I bought this phone for my mother after she suffered 100% hearing loss after a serious illness. The phone has become her salvation - allowing her to establish a connection - a line of communication - with her family and the outside world that would otherwise be impossible. Cap Tel also offers excellent customer service.

Must have high speed internet

My elderly parents don't have high speed internet. Before ordering this phone I did some research and everything indicates that you don't need high speed or Wi-Fi for the phone to work. What they didn't mention is that the phone works but the subtitles ONLY work if you have high speed internet or wi-fi. Now I can't get my phone back so I'm stuck with an unusable phone.

Great phone, easy to set up.

Some of the negative reviews were obviously written by people who know very little about internet connections. Additionally, didn't read some ads that specifically state that an internet connection is required to view subtitles. As a geek, it only took me 10 minutes to set up and get subtitles. In addition, the phone has many options that allow you to customize your phone exactly how you want it.

Works as intended.

This device was bought for a very elderly person as I believe a lot of people who buy these phones are used for their intended purpose. That's for a 90 year old. OK, not fair, I know. That's the problem. With proper setup and careful, repetitive usage instructions, seniors can use these phones successfully. most of their intended (geriatric) users. The memorization of keystroke sequences, the fear of deleting a program and simply turning it into a "computer" drives old people insane who just…

Great idea but Wi-Fi connection should be better

My brother originally bought this for my elderly father who is hard of hearing when using the phone. It doesn't stay connected to the Wi-Fi router, and unfortunately there's no way to plug in an Ethernet cable where it's being used. A day later at the latest, it will show a message that the router is not turned on or is unavailable if all other devices in the house that are connecting to the WiFi are not having any problems. I initially connected it to my main Wi-Fi network, but after a while…
