Great alternative to plastic scrubbers

I'm excited to find something to use in place of the green plastic scrubbers I get from the grocery store that never decompose or break down into smaller particles that fish and eventually humans ingest. They don't last that long but that's okay, they can be composted and you get a bag for the price.

They fall like crazy

I found them to scratch nonstick pans a bit, but otherwise they performed well on my baking sheets and pots/pans. However, they shed horribly. The long fibers got stuck in my rings and on the rims of the pans, and I was concerned that if they went through the drain strainer they would clog the drain. I would not buy again.

Pros
  • Consistent results in testing
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Best plastic substitute I've ever made!

Until now I have never found a dish soap that works as well as the plastic washcloths I have used most of my life. These pads are abrasive enough to clean my cookware, but they won't scratch non-stick or ceramic cookware. They shed a few fibers when I use them, but not by much, certainly less than the food debris that ends up in my sink. They're a good size and haven't picked up any odors yet.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • No Automatic

Fall apart quickly: Sponges

They looked great. I would only use them outside and not in the sink or bathroom at home. I cleaned the tub and it literally spilled and fell apart like crazy. I had to put a strainer over the drain to get all the coconut/husk bits out. When washing dishes, it cleans strongly adhering products, they just fall apart quickly. Then you still need to clean up the mess from the hair/chunks of shell that make it up. Cleaning up this junk wasn't very fun and not exactly easy since it's scattered all…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Disappear
