Watch Mark Rippetoe's video about knee pads.

Cannot recommend these enough if you have knee pain. I've had frequent knee pain for years and recently sprained my knee doing light squats. Bought them and used them for squats and deadlifts. I don't use them for weightlifting, so can't say if they're good for lifting gear, but they're great for a bit of knee support. My first knee brace and it works well

I started getting knee pain lifting weights in the squat and leg press. I have this one and I think it protects my knees really well (not sure if it keeps them completely secure but definitely more secure than before!). best in Knee Orthoses

I am very happy with my purchase. These are not powerlifting knee pads, so don't confuse them with that. Powerlifting knee wraps are very, very tight around the knees and don't flex a lot. They are designed to keep your knees very tight when powerlifting. I do box squats and it works best for me. They are a little stretchy, elastic, and I wrap my knees because I have chronic hamstringitis. So my knees don't feel stable when I squat with some weight. With these bandages my knees feel much better
