Description of 🔥 Heat-Set Insert Installation guide for Weller ST Series SP40NKUS Tips and Hakko FX-888D - Ideal for #4-40, M3, M4, and M5 Inserts when Joining 3D Printed Components.

IGREAT Heat-Set Insert Installation tip better than soldering iron tip,Longer shank than other tips allows you to reach deeper into 3D printed parts and tight corners to install heat-set inserts without touching your iron and melting the plastic. compatible with many 1/4" Weller ST series tip irons internal ceramic heaters of many Hakko models. These installation tips slide over the ceramic heating element of the Hakko irons, just like the soldering iron tip, while still fitting in the 1/4" chamber of ST Series tips Weller irons. Perfect for 3D printing parts,One tip works for #4-40 and M3 and the other tip works for M5 inserts for same price as a single tip from other vendors. More types of inserts and better reach than other installation tips. Please note: the bottom interface size is 3.5mm (manually measured, 0.1±0.5mm). The brass material is easy to oxidize, but it does not affect the use. If you buy a product with severe oxidation, please contact us to return. Installation tip works better than soldering iron tip since conical tips can catch on the insert and accidentally pull the insert out while melting the plastic and ruining the part.

Great for tips

I used these in my Hakko solder pen which was part of my SMD reflow/soldering station. The tips fit perfectly, heat up quickly and easily heat brass inserts for insertion into 3D printed parts. What I mean to say is that I used around 220-230 degrees C for the settings and you can slowly and carefully insert the brass inserts into the desired holes and hold flush with the surface.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some issues

Will not work with Hakko FX888D without modification, will not fit M4

No tip size in kit will fit M4. Don't buy for M4 inserts. A little short for working with the Hakko FX888D iron. The ones I got weren't as bad as the others but still useless without a pad for which I don't have a suitable jerry rig on hand. The two springs are identical and only suitable for M5 and higher due to the width of the spring. And the shoulder of the other tip is too narrow to sit flat on the M4. Maybe it's ok for M2.5 and M3 with spacer but only 1 out of 3 usable with modification…

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Secret

Works quite well with spare parts and accessories

Whilst a regular soldering iron tip will likely work almost as well, with these specialty tips you no longer have to worry about solder getting on all of your bits and you have a bit more control pushing straight through with a whole extra one Iron to install these insert-only tips as it's easier to change the entire iron than to constantly unscrew the tips and risk damaging the cartridge heater. (a problem I know firsthand). It's also easier to just plug another iron into the station without…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Fits

Will not fit Hakko FX-888D - requires gasket

I figured since the product description clearly states that the tips fit the Hakko FX-888D the conflicting product reviews must be wrong No the reviews are correct the tips cover that Hakko FX-888D ceramic heating element. There is a 1/8" gap between the bottom of the tip and the base of the pen. You need a gasket or you risk damaging the heating element. A little annoying but other than that the tips are good processed.

Pros
  • Compatible with many 1/4" ceramic inner heater Weller ST series irons on many Hakko models. Iron tip that still fits into the 1/4" tip chamber of the Weller ST series iron will fit
Cons
  • Not sure

Compatible with Milwaukee soldering iron (with slight modification)

I bought these tips to insert threaded brass fittings into my 3D printing projects. When purchasing these things, it can be difficult to know for sure if they are compatible with your instruments. And the information sellers provide isn't always enough to draw any real conclusions. I saw in the description here that the hole diameter in the tip is 5/32" (4mm). But if I didn't miss it, I didn't see the depth. I bought it anyway and hoped for the best .I realized the depth wasn't enough to work…

Pros
  • Ideal for 3D printing parts. One blade fits #4-40 and M3 sockets and the other fits M5 sockets at the same price as a separate blade from other suppliers. More types of inserts and better reach than other installation tips
Cons
  • Very expensive
