It sticks fairly well and sticks to bare painted metal. I also use self-tapping screws and large washers in hard-to-reach areas, just in case. Easy to cut and takes the shape of the installed area by hand pressing.

Ok I suppose if you have a straight, flat, no contour surface to paint something else on and it's useless without a seam tape to tape it on to keep in place. that this material is outrageously expensive. I will definitely not go down this path again and certainly will not recommend it to anyone.

The product does not match the description. It arrived damaged, crumpled edges, vertical creases all over the material, the roll of tape is not a roll and not the same as in the picture, the adhesive is poor, like sticky notes stick better than this. Check out the photos I've attached to this review. These are the actual items I will receive.

While this product may seem overpriced, it works well with my firewall. The installation went well on a really uneven surface and looks like a professional installation. Heatshield was very helpful in choosing this product and when I noticed there should have been tape in the box they promptly sent another piece of tape. 1 inch tape included) Item #179002 which I purchased to complete the installation as the adhesive was weak and couldn't stay sealed.

Bought for a motorcycle project. This works on a large flat surface but if you plan to install this in a difficult area it becomes very difficult as the fiberglass on the back is not well bonded and tends to move. It also comes with 1 inch heavy duty aluminum tape to seal the edge after installation, but it's useless as the tape is stiff with weak adhesive. I ended up using a different heat protection tape. Use this for a car or surface with no curves or corners. Otherwise continue.

The problem I had was that the adhesive was old and just not sticky . Please note that I have used this product in the past and it has worked great. The problem is that once you cut it to size and then peel off the backing and find that it isn't sticky, it can't be returned. So it has an expiration date, like all glue, and if it's been lying around in a warehouse somewhere for years, it might not work for you - or it might.
