Probably more trouble than good

Unfortunately it's hard to work with unless used on simple shapes and/or flat surfaces. Partly it's me, probably because the adhesive backing is slightly higher than the masking tape. It is necessary to have glue or some kind of spray glue on hand.

Thermal protection is an EXCELLENT product. Works as advertised!

This was a great purchase. It was my husband's motorcycle. The lower part of the gas tank got very hot from the engine and burned his legs. The thermal protection product really helped. He just cut it to size and attached it to the back of the gas tank. Great product and works as advertised. 👌😁

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons

The glue did not stick and came off immediately. Huge waste of time and money. A third party is doing the work for me and Amazon to return an item. Stay away at all costs. Either buy cheaper thermal gold or silver tape or paint the inside of the hood with heat resistant paint. This product deserves zero stars. Many Thanks.

Pros
  • Certificate GOLS
Cons
  • It was possible to choose a newer model

Things are garbage. Do not buy!

I have purchased several heat shields over the years but this item is absolute junk. It doesn't stick to the plastic even though I prepared the surface the way you paint. Bought so my CAI doesn't get hot in traffic. Installed and after the first ride (only 5 minutes at a top speed of only 45mph) half came loose and some were stuck in the engine bay.

Great product that I didn't know I needed

A new gas stove and oven were installed. When I looked at the installation instructions, it said that I needed a heat shield to protect the floor. At first I considered returning the oven as none of the ones I've had in the past required a shield. I did some research and spoke to a couple of the techs who installed them and they both gave this product high ratings. It comes with an adhesive backing and stays in place. Good product.

  • Everything is great!

Good, but with flaws.

Firstly, the appearance of this material is quite good and its thermal protection is acceptable. The problems I have is that the glue used is not strong enough so the edges can lift. As the edges rise, they begin to fray, and the only way to solve this problem is to trim the ends. I wish the weave was tighter. In some places the aluminum chassis is visible through the shield. I have seen all of these problems with vehicles from other manufacturers. For the price I would have expected better…

Strong adhesive and great product

I used it as a heat shield under a motorcycle's gas tank. Works very well - no more hot petrol. It also has a carbon fiber-like look, which is nice if you like it. Tips: - If you use multiple pieces to cover an area, don't think you can cover them. The glue is very strong, but it won't stick to real material. The cut edges will fray - depending on the application, you can apply some nail polish or glue to the edge to keep it from fraying. I wouldn't recommend this for really high temperature…

The wear and tear has gotten worse. My AEM intake looks like a mess.

I tried to wrap my AEM intake box with lava shield in combination with high temp spray glue. I wiped the metal inlet with alcohol, rinsed with water and made sure it was dry before installing. Spray on the glue and leave for 30 seconds (as directed in the glue instructions). I put on a lava shield with a heat shield and it didn't stick. The edges started to fray and I checked out the Heatshield Products YouTube page which said you need to spray clear paint on the edges to combat fraying. I did…
