I bought my first of these magnets and was impressed with its strength. I placed it on the side of a metal tool box - no screws - and it holds a couple of lighter tools (less than 0.5 pounds each). I tested the magnetic force by putting a 4 pound construction hammer on it. It held the hammer, but screws are needed to hold the magnet in place. I bought a second one for handheld garden tools. This wand consists of smaller magnets sandwiched between two strips of metal and wrapped in black tape on the front - which would be nice if the magnets were firmly taped in place. You are not. My only complaint is that the included plastic stud holder seems to attach the stud to the wall fairly loosely.
