Heininger 4037 HitchMate TruckStep Pick Ups Review

Well built, a little difficult to get the leg/footboard to work properly. Due to the nature of the hitch on my 2019 ram2500 I had to modify it to fit the bumper snugly or my backup sensors would pick up the step as an object in my path. It's a bit of a concern with how low it hangs under the truck and possible snagging on something, but other than that it's a great help getting in and out of my overly large Ram 4x4 2500!

This is a great product. I have found that this is the only bed step that can be used with the tailgate open. it's strong I sometimes jump down the step getting out of bed and it holds up great. Folding it up is a bit fiddly. Just make sure the step is locked in place before attempting to fold it down and you'll be fine. So far I like it very much. Neighbors say they need it too.

Apologies for the only 1 star rating but if you can't even find the correct hole position for a stock factory receiver, get this. How difficult can this calculation be for a company like Heininger? The second hole is approximately 1/8 inch smaller than the hitch pin can be inserted. Maybe it's a bad weld, but it still indicates poor quality control. Purchased for a 2016 Tundra SR5 Crewmax (with a 2" Class IV receiver). It seems to have a fairly solid construction, although the step is made of plastic with metal reinforcement. The box I received was actually slightly damaged (probably because the metal had punched through) but after unboxing everything looked fine. down, the full step is visible when standing on the tailgate. I installed this product on a 2015 Ram 3500. It was difficult for me to get anything into the back of the truck and almost impossible to get into the back of the truck. I needed a step with a large carrying capacity because I am a tall man. The train seems strong and very well made. The hitch on my truck is a Class 5 with a 2 1/2" bore.
