Where's the quality gone, it's a toy.

I was shocked when I opened the package and realized how lightweight and cheap this lock was. I have another one that is heavy and sturdy and has a heavy metal rod that inserts into the helmet's D-ring. ? The rod that came with this lock has a plastic feel and with a little force can be bent by the girl. Has the quality of this product dropped that much since I bought my last one? But on the bright side, it works, but $30 should be $9.99.

Pros
  • Inspires Confidence
Cons
  • Protection

It's basically useless without both parts

Glad to get this lock and extension for my bike. However, it arrived today and the package was missing an extension cord meaning I only received the combo lock. Without both parts it's basically useless. I don't just need a combination lock. The first thing I did was check the box to see if it fell out. It was not. The other issue is that I don't want to be penalized for sending it back, so it's basically a waste. And I would not recommend this item. I can't recommend anything I didn't get.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I'll write back later

Super practical helmet lock!

This helmet lock is great and probably even more perfect for those with D-rings on their helmets. For those of us with a dull ratchet strap, consider using the included T. Not fiddly or anything, just means you have to play around with it a bit. I wish the hole in the T was a little bigger and had a little more wiggle room so it can be put on and taken off faster. The locking mechanism seems cheap, but you're not buying a Fort Knox here. It quickly keeps sticky hands off your helmet. If someone

Pros
  • Sleek design

  • Definitely bad product

The T-Bar is a single point of failure and breaks easily

Simply put, my helmet was stolen using this lock on the very first day I used it at noon. I parked in San Francisco, which is known for a lot of theft. If you typically park in areas less prone to theft, this lock will likely be a good deterrent, but in practice it's easy to pick. The T-bar used to connect the lock to the bike is fragile and can be easily removed. Overall the lock is easy to install and use, but I wouldn't recommend this method for securing a helmet. Locked saddlebags orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Empty

Doesn't work with Shoei ratchet straps

Received this today as a little protection to keep someone from just walking off with a $700 helmet. Turns out the back of the box says it doesn't work with "some" Shoei helmets. I assume mine is one of them. This is not mentioned anywhere in the product description. It would be nice to know as Shoei is one of the most popular helmet manufacturers. The T-bar is too thick to fit through the ratchet. I wouldn't use it anyway, I'm not an incredible colossus, but I just bent and broke the T-bar byโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Good value for many situations

For some reason the standard saddlebags on the Silverado Yamaha V-Star version completely block the placement of the standard helmet lock. I've decided not to add another lock to the engine guard or license plate bracket, and not another key to my ring if I don't always lock my helmet anyway, and I've found this. I can just toss it in my saddlebags until I need it, and then it turns on and latches in just a minute. It can also be useful if you have a passenger helmet and both don't fit in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
