Perfect fit for Betta

I have them in every one of my Betta tanks. They are small but mighty. Love the corner pieces (so easy to hide. They don't take up space in my 7 gallon tanks). I have a cheap blue pump and it works great and the betta ignores it.

Great filter, only 1 mistake

Easy setup, small enough for my 3 gallon beta tank. I put it in on Friday after cleaning the tank and on Monday the water was still clean. The only problem I had was that the bottom weight wasn't heavy enough so I took a rock from another plant ornament and glued it to the base and covered it with gravel to make it heavier. now it stays where it is. I definitely recommend it.

Pros
  • Something about it
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Very quiet, suitable for accessories and consumables

I had a cheap foam filter before I used it - I thought it was a small tank and what a difference. However, when I received this, I noticed that the foam was thicker and larger. When I put it in the tank I couldn't hear anything - I think the bubbles are smaller due to the denser foam. Some complain that it floats - just compress it with a pair of strings with a filter submerged in water and once the air is released it stays submerged.

Love the design - would recommend adding an air stone

This is my first sponge filter and I love the size of my 30 gallon aquarium as I can tuck it in a corner and the plants hide it from view. . I bought it mainly for ventilation as I still have the HOB filter, but it also has the benefit of improving the nitrogen cycle. I thought it would be the type with the diffuser already installed for a finer, quieter gush, but it had yet to be added. It took some modifications to the basket to fit the rock but it works great now and I know my entire tankโ€ฆ

Love this filter solution

I've always had mechanical HOB filters in previous installations. They certainly work, but they take up a lot of tank space, are noisy, and can get temperamental. I did some research on foam filters to use with an air pump and decided to try this approach when installing a Marineland 5 gallon portrait aquarium. In a nutshell. I wish I had done this a long time ago. Set up was very easy, the filtration is great and the sponge is easy to hide behind the hardscape. Combined with the Tetra Whisperโ€ฆ

Excellent water filter

This is the perfect size for my 6 gallon Betta aquarium. The angled design allows for a snug fit on the side without looking awkward like some cylindrical sponges. I hooked it up to the Aquarium Co-Op Nano Air Pump. Works very well, this sponge filter also works well with my air valve. I also had a Co-Op coarse nano sponge filter, but I hated its coarseness. I felt the water was still full of debris and not clear. However, this Hikari Bacto-Surge polishes the water much better as it is thinnerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Legacy model
