I just got it working - out of the box

Although I wanted to learn everything about Bluetooth to use it, I just connected it to my Arduino and used a serial terminal program on my computer or phone and I could send serial data. Very happy with the board. For my Android I use "Serial Bluetooth Terminal" which is great and on PC I use BlueDuino which works. A NOTICE. It's Bluetooth, not BLE. Also don't forget to swap TX and RX between HC-05 and Arduino.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some issues

Built in 5 pin 3.3V voltage regulator One of those 5 pins will enable the output and connects to the EN pin. The display shows a 5 pin regulator and the display has a diagram showing a 5 pin regulator. Big! But what I actually got was another HC-05 with a regular 3-pin voltage regulator, with no output enable pin. I can't use it. This pin enable feature is important because by adding an external connection to the onboard switch and connecting that and the EN pin to the two output pins on my…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Modern

Buy this kind of module, please

A little scold. In short, if you think about it then buy it. It works great and is a great price. IF you have thought about buying another type of module, be careful. One module that is *blazing junk is the AT-09, also known as the MLT BT05 or 4.1 BTE module. You can search the web for a manual (one of which has been translated from Mandarin, but you'll have to spend some time finding it) and it will show ̶h̶o̶w̶ ̶its ̶s̶u̶p̶p̶o̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶ confusing pinout…

A very good device, but not so easy to get it working properly.

After searching the internet for how to use the HC-05, I ordered several for a project. I ended up getting the project working on the Arduino Uno. Designed a circuit board for the shield and made several blocks. Everything is working well. That's good news. The bad news is that it pays to be an electrical engineer with experience in embedded systems design. Various websites were helpful, but most of them had bugs. For example, some circuits didn't use a level switch to control the RxD input or…

Initial crash but later smooth ride

At first I couldn't figure out how to use it and contacted tech support and they responded in time, I just found this little man difficult to use, but then I took a step back and tried looking at every output and setting and uuuuuuuu, it worked. There is no registration for anything other than a simple connection to contacts. oh and yes, this one didn't work with SoftwareSerial but it did with AltSoftSerial. I'm fine but just thought to share in case anyone gets into the situation.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly
