Screws are strong and work well. In many cases, pre-drilling is the best course of action. I used these to attach the skin to the 2x4 studs through the 4" outer hard foam insulation through the skin. Screws work great for this application. The only problem (as seen in the photo) is that quite a few 2" screws were in the box. As they are sold by weight I feel Hillman should have a little more quality control to ensure 6" screws go into the 6" box and 2" screws fit in the 2 inch box.

The screws were in excellent condition - not loose, not broken, perhaps one was slightly bent in the box and had to be discarded. But the container they came in. I swear I'm tempted to buy more just to get a container. You won't find this anywhere else - it's the perfect size and durability. I've used containers for: retaining screws (the ones included and others), adhesive resin tray, chicken feed scoop, various harvest buckets (tomatoes, eggs, berries, apples), dog water bowls, and more…

The tip on them has no notch (cutout) up to the screw making them self tapping. You can see this in the photos but I didn't care until I tried them. In comparison, other similar screws (e.g. Construction Screws or Spax brands) are knurled and that makes the difference. I just used them to fix a fence and they are poorly constructed and have caused a lot of problems. . Most of the fence posts they just twisted around, didn't cling to.
