Good Quality Fasteners

Perfect for attaching the base of my new greenhouse to 4WD logging vehicles. Torx drive bit is slightly worn out after tightening 6 screws

Pros
  • STAR DRIVE, FARM HEAD: Eliminate tabs for smooth and easy movement every time
Cons
  • Some bugs

Best option for 1.5 " length (hard to find short lugs)

SPAX also (formerly) make a 1.5" coated construction lug with a hex head. I used some of these to attach the deck studs to the footers. (Maybe I actually used a 2-inch?) In any case, this is the only brand I know of that has a plated setscrew, and it's more expensive than it. I use them to screw in new floorboards from below. (2x6) on my service trailer. The original deck was bolted on top with hardened mounting screws that were NOT plated or SS (don't get me started.) I've already replaced aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • No pre-drilling
Cons
  • Nothing here

Good quality except torx bit

Good quality for a 1/4" screw with a rounded and smooth head. But the supplied torx bit rounded things off after only 3 screws. Luckily I had another one that was hardened.

Pros
  • STAR DRIVE, TRUSS HEAD: Eliminate cams for a smooth and easy drive every time
Cons
  • Concise instructions

I used these screws on a mahogany fence. I used steel brackets to hold the rails in place and used these screws to attach the rails to the brackets. The first thing I noticed was that the torx key that came with it didn't fit well in the screw head. They don't fit well and you will likely slip off the screw head many times. You must control the screw with your free hand as you screw it in, otherwise it will cut the wood poorly. I ended up taking the screw to a local hardware store and found aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Star drive helps avoid camping
Cons
  • Big and bulky
