HIPA Ignition Armature Stratton Horizontal Review

Ignition coil/magneto works great but all I had to do was turn it upside down to start the engine, adjust the air gap and the old Briggs & Stratton -Twin boxer engine ran great. The price is excellent compared to Briggs & Stratton's list price of just over $70.

Installed and working. As others have said, the kill wire is on the opposite side of the old one. I turned it upside down first before realizing it wouldn't start. Flip it and it works great! To update. The coil died yesterday. A little over a month old. Hopefully the seller will replace it so I can mow again. Will report when they do!

I changed my rating because the coil stopped working the second time. Forget that seller, they are rubbish. Doesn't come with the advertised zip tie which isn't a big deal. But importantly, I didn't order any plugs because this kit comes with them, but the plugs they sent don't even work. I had to run to the store for new ones. Just don't send them if they don't work

I bought it because although it was cheaper it had the best reviews among other things including a Briggs and Stratton spare. Weak sparks were initially emitted from new candles. Barely started and started the first time. I put the engine back together and tried to start it again but it wouldn't start. Come and find the kill switch connector shorted to the base, grounding it. I guess I'll try the b&s part now.

Put this unit in - tractor started straight up. Please note: the cables will NOT come out the same side as the original cables --- just put a long cable on the removed cylinder and you'll be fine. The product does NOT come with a plug - you must use the old ones. They're a little difficult to put on. Use wire or rope to "pull" the coil wire through the boot. Add dielectric grease if you like. Remember - move the coil away from the magnet (use a business card if you like)

Works great when installed correctly. The "this side out" and "this side to cylinder" markings are difficult to see in dim light with old eyes. This is a newer design than my 17 year old mower. The bottom flap is on the opposite side and I turned it upside down. It will not work. I already had a return authorization when I realized it was upside down. As always, Revain aims to support sales. I turned the spool. The mower started and ran like new and I canceled the return. Good product, great…
