HiTow Multi Use Trailer Receiver Extension Review

Would not clean my upper offset rear bumper. My hitch is already very low, so I need to be able to use it that way. Have bought from the company before and have not been disappointed with the quality but will measure before buying anything else. One size doesn't fit all!

I bought this with the winch and so far so good. Admittedly I haven't towed my light trailer with it yet because I haven't set the correct torque on the ball hitch yet (the outlet is on the way) but I'm pretty sure it will work with no problems. The only downside is that it wobbles a lot, but there's nothing the anti-rattle touchplate can't fix. I highly recommend this product.

I REALLY wanted this to work. I thought it was a great idea. Unfortunately I couldn't install it on my Subaru Forester. The top 2" receiver rests against the bumper so you can't get the hitch pin in. I hope the seller/manufacturer will contact me with help or suggestions. If so, I'll be more than happy to change my rating.

I bought this so I don't have to keep changing the tow ball and clutch basket on my SUV. I have an anti-rattle mechanism that snaps, so constantly removing the hold can be an issue. It works great for my application and I would recommend it. I carried two deer in my basket so the extra receiver is strong enough for whatever you add.

The problem I had with this receiver was that the top receiver was very tight on a bike mount with a 2" hitch. It's also about half an inch shorter (than, say, Curt's product) leaving just 5mm clearance from my bumper. In addition, this extension cord is sturdy and works well. I bought this model to replace a curt extension that was damaged in a rear end crash.

I have tried installing 4 different 2" hitches which work fine in other receivers in this vertical HITOW hitch. Alignment hole where you would insert the clutch pin. So the HITOW receiver is either not square internally or is narrowing or there is some other manufacturing defect. I've considered hitting the clutch somehow, but then I can never get the thing out, so I'm sending it back.

Overall the unit looks very well built and solved my problem of having a bike and trailer carrier at the same time. Others have indicated that their accessories do not fit the top tube. I found that true. I also found the reason and the solution. The reason lies in the manufacturing process which causes the area around the pin hole to be slightly indented. This is likely caused by too much pressure on the tool that drilled the hole. If you want to salvage a unit (because it's not easy to find),

I installed this on my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with OEM hitch. I bought a trunk that when inserted directly into the receiver wasn't as high or as far from the car as I wanted. I have twin tailpipes in the back and the trunk was right over the exits, but it was still too close for comfort. I knew I was going to use a tarp or bag to cover luggage and other items, and the last thing I wanted was to melt or, worse, catch fire.
