🚪 Enhance Your Home Security with the HomeSeer HS-DS100+ Z-Wave Plus Door/Window Sensor Review

This device has poor range and jerky notification windows compared to other Z-Wave Plus devices I've used. It keeps showing up offline, but for some reason some (not all) status change notifications are still coming. I wouldn't trust that for security critical installs.

Works very sporadically. I bought 2 and one works perfectly. The other shows online on my Smartthings v3 hub but doesn't report a status change. When opening or closing the door, he blinks three times and isn't sure what that means. Sent one back to make sure I didn't get a bad piece.

Ideal for SmartThings. The battery life is excellent. No false readings or missed open/close events reported. Although SmartThings recognizes this device upon pairing, it identifies it as a Z-Wave and not a Z-Wave Plus. Make sure you change the device handler to z-wave plus, otherwise the device will be reported as unreachable (although it will still work properly).

It's not sold as waterproof but the case is so intact all you have to do is fill the compartment with Corrosion X and BAM, your Uncle Bob! I use this for the pool gate. The sticker that came with it didn't work that well so he could feel the bottom of the goalpost where he was in 3 inches of water for 12 hours. I restored it and it still works like a champ. Just fill the case with corrosive X and you're waterproof. Proven here.

First the DS100+ was not found in the preinstalled configuration files of my Vera Plus. Shouldn't be a problem, I just used the generic Zwave device and turned it on. I didn't understand or realize that this would show up as two devices, a motion sensor and a window/door sensor. It didn't make any sense to me, so I removed it.
