Excellent honey refractometer!

Took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to calibrate it. I think it was due to my eyesight deteriorating. After checking the calibration, I measured the moisture content of my extraction honey. Again, it took me a few minutes to get the readings right, but I'm sure it will come with practice. Excellent value for money.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Easy to use, accurate and great price. Trifecta!

This product was great. If you don't see a line, it means your sample is low in sugar. It came pre-calibrated, but I tested it with extra virgin olive oil and an existing bottle of maple syrup from a local sugar store. Exactly. It saved me time and effort in my first year with Maple, very valuable and easy to use.

Pros
  • Quick Exchange
Cons
  • Exchange Available

Works but needs calibration and the case is missing a part and won't snap

It works fine for testing honey but I had to calibrate it and the readings were weird so I decided to test it. . Found a YouTube video that explains how to do it and was easy to adjust with the screwdriver that came with it. Unfortunately the case is missing a clasp so I have to use a rubber band to close the box which is not worth the hassle of replacing.

  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Style 90

A must have tool to prevent honey spoilage

As a hobby beekeeper I needed something to prevent my honey from getting too watery before I put the honey into jars. This tool serves its purpose and allows you to quickly determine the water content. My only complaint about this tool is that it seems cheap. Since I only use it once or twice a year, I'm fine with that. Beekeepers should aim for a water content below 18% as this reduces the likelihood of mold and spoilage. Otherwise, honey should be stored in a room with desiccant or harvested…

If you have bees, you need them!

I have had an apiary for several years. I've always wondered if there is a way to test my honey's moisture level. I've never had honey sourdough, but I don't want to risk such a valuable resource. After some studies I gravitated towards refractometers. I assumed they would be expensive but was amazed that it was so cheap! The package arrived three days after ordering. I just collected some honey and tested it after calibrating it per the instructions that came with my refractometer. At 18%…

An indispensable tool to prevent spoilage of honey

As a hobby beekeeper I needed something to prevent the water content of my honey from getting too high before filling. This tool serves its purpose and allows you to quickly determine the water content. My only complaint about this tool is that it seems cheap. Since I only use it once or twice a year, I'm fine with that. Beekeepers should aim for a water content below 18% as this reduces the likelihood of mold and spoilage. Pros
  • Device for analyzing substances
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
