Should have looked at the 1 star reviews

Recently bought another brand which worked 3 days before dying. You should also pay attention to the 1 star reviews above it. They did not deliver what was advertised. Nowhere does it say that this transformer was a Honeyewell product and was made in China and not in the US as advertised. Couldn't figure out why my new RING doorbell wouldn't work with this transformer as it was recommended for a doorbell output: 24VAC at 40VA. Eventually, the electrician found that this transformer was…

So far, so good. Added power to the Ecobee thermostat.

I bought this unit to power my Ecobee Smart Wifi Thermostat. I only had a 2-wire thermostat, so I bought one of those 24V plug-in transformers first. It worked, but I didn't like the wire hanging off the wall and couldn't perfectly flush mount the thermostat. So I bought this and installed it in a knockout hole in a nearby light switch electrical box using the screw that came with it. I drilled another hole in the drywall to route the thermostat wire from the new transformer to the thermostat…

Pros
  • This is a genuine OEM part.
Cons
  • Available in white only.

Choose this transformer with care

Works - sort of. The output voltage is about 10%-15% too high at the nominal input voltage of 120VAC. If your utility increases the voltage on its power line during the day, the output voltage will be even higher than the 10-15% it is already generating. I suspect this is due to a lack of quality control of production at a factory in the Far East. Also, one of the output terminal screws was stripped and could not be tightened on the oven control low voltage wire. I had to disassemble the output

Pros
  • Brand: Honeywell
Cons
  • High price
