Poor build, best hardware

I was very disappointed with the connector on the cable. The outer jacket of the cable was stripped too far back and the strain relief clip was pressed against the individual wires, not the jacket. And the collar wasn't tight either! I thought Hopkins would do a better job plugging in his own plug! But I still gave it 3 stars because it was exactly what I needed and it was easy enough to reconnect the plug properly. The quality of the cable and connector looks good. Just no assembly.

Pros
  • External Accessories
Cons
  • Ok

Very thick cable but poor workmanship, outer shield has come away from the 6-pin connector. This was because stripping the wire took too long, leaving little room for the terminal to properly compress the outer rubber shield. I had to open the connector and strip each wire back shorter (about 1/2 inch) to keep the outer shield in the area where the terminal screw is. Easily plugs into a standard 7-pin RV connector.

Cons
  • Not the best

Not as pictured, very poor design

I ordered this because I needed a molded plastic plug and the one I got was metal. While most people, myself included, would probably prefer metal for most applications, my primary need is plastic. Overall bad design. The outer sheath does not go deep enough into the clamp bar yoke to secure it and prevent individual wire pull out. Of course, the push rod must be present for this, which is not the case. t. How do I assemble the trailer cable and leave the key element? I would give it no stars…
