Great that you can close it when it's not in.

I bought this for a boat trailer. I had another of these on my utility trailer for about 4 years. The good thing is that it can be closed when not in use. It's also durable so you won't lose the lid. The only thing I would wish for is that it lasts a little longer. It would be nice if there were no wire transitions in the middle of the slack between car and trailer.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than others

Easy install for hauling groceries and winches

I bought a used cargo trailer with an odd round (not 7 pin 1.5 inch plug) plug and had to exchange it for a flat 4 pin plug exchange. It was surprisingly easy to install. It came with all the necessary hardware to connect the wires. I was expecting to need wire nuts or crimp connectors but I was wrong. All I needed was a pair of wire cutters to remove the old connector. Super easy installation.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Low repairability

Works fine but don't worry about the blue plugs

I was able to use this to quickly reconnect my trailer headlights after our plug mysteriously disappeared. The blue connectors are supposed to make things easier, but they don't pierce the wire jacket properly, so I just stripped the wire 1/2 inch and attached nuts, then wrapped it in weatherproof tape. I will buy another one as a spare.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Minor issues

The boat works again.

My headlights went out returning from my last boat fishing session this afternoon. On the way home it was unplugged and unplugged, when I arrived it stopped working. I bought it to replace a broken plug. It took several minutes to cut this new replacement unit using butt connectors and heat shrink tubing. Everything is working again and I have now rented a boat. I did not use the connectors that came with the product.

Well made, working well

This connector makes a very good new or replacement trailer connector. The connector is well built and shaped to be reasonably weather resistant and comes with a tube of silicone grease to prevent water from corroding the pins. When plugged into the side of the car it makes a very strong connection so I know it won't be dangling down the road. However, some longer cables could be used to facilitate connection to a trailer. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Good quality 4 pin hitch

We recently did a complete rewiring on our early CJ5 Willys Jeep. I connected the front and rear 4-pin hitches so he's ready to tow and tow. This is the one I plug in the front (your tractor plugs into this - it has 3 plugs and 1 socket). Excellent quality, lasted and worked as expected. I also connected this to a relay to prevent "backfeed" power into the system. Installed a #48030 4-wire Hopkins connector on the rear bumper. I used self tapping screws to attach them to the car.

Pros
  • Tough finish
Cons
  • Security
