Quick and Easy Best Hard Drive Enclosure

Awesome Hard Drive or SSD Enclosure. I took the SSD out of my old MacBook Pro when it finally got dusty and put it in this case and it worked great. Now I have a small and fast external drive for my new MacBook Pro. Installation couldn't be simpler and performance is excellent.

Great quality cable!

Works fine, I have 1 Terabyte Firecuda Connected to Imac 2017 Thunderbolt 3 Proven speed on Black Magic 185W/195 R, got another cable from another seller - the cable provided was good, wanted type C try to type c, Pi-Amour Type-C Cable, Apple Nylon Braided Cable, Super Speed 3A QuickCharge-10Gb/s. USB C to C connectors for Huawei

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Was damaged

Good value for money. Suitable for MacBook Pro (2015)

Very good value for money. I was transitioning from a Mac Pro Tower with 4 internal drives to a MacBook Pro laptop and needed a way to access the now homeless bare drives. These boxes work fine. Every once in a while one of them won't mount, but that might be because I have so many USB devices plugged into a self-powered hub. Sometimes a little vibration noise, but not critical.

Pros
  • Robust workmanship
Cons
  • Minor problems

Better than NexStar 6G

I have NexStar 6G (USB 3.1) and HornetTek Jaws (USB 3.1) cases. Obviously, regardless of the brand and name, they come from the same manufacturer. HornetTek has an LED that is less bright and turns off when the drive is in sleep mode. It also has significantly faster transfers, even on a USB 3.0 port. Aside from not being available in silver, the HornetTek outperforms the NexStar in every way, but is almost identical.

Pros
  • Slightly above
Cons
  • Null

Constantly disconnected from the computer.

I just received it yesterday and installed it this morning. So far I've had trouble getting Time Machine to complete the backup as after about 2 hours the drive went offline and ejected. I can turn it off and on again and it works again for a few hours before turning off again. The drive is still warm and spinning, but my laptop won't read it. I'm trying to use this with my 1 month old Macbook Pro 15 with Touch Bar.

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Not as described, no USB 3.1 support at all.

I have just received the unit with the HDD and SSD attached. Works great with a USB 3.0 port as expected. With USB 3.1 the connection breaks off as soon as I transfer data. The system recognizes the device as a USB 3.0 device connected to a USB 3.1 port. I just ordered a Thunderbolt 3 cable, both ends are TYPE C. If that doesn't work and behave the same I will be returning this ASMedia ASM1351 chipset storage. Hornetek device. The ASMedia ASM1351 chipset claims to support USB 3.0 and nothing…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

For me, replacing the HDD with an SSD was a good choice.

Easy assembly. It works with my 1TB Toshiba SATA HDD which I replaced with an SSD. It connects to my PC's USB 3.0 port using the included USB (3.1) cable (since one end of the cable is USB Type A and backwards compatible). It was immediately recognized and deployed by Windows 10 (64-bit). The bare hard drive was easy to insert (rather slide and snap into the SATA connector) and secure to the case with 2 of the 3 screws provided, and then slide the outer case and secure with 2 of the 3 black…
